The Bartow-Wadley area mourns the loss of a beloved lifelong resident, Elizabeth "Adell" Lawrence Black, 75. Known for her unwavering dedication to family and her kind-hearted nature, Adell passed away at her residence on May 27, 2024, after bravely battling bone cancer. Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00PM Monday, June 3, 2024 in the Wadley City Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Stavely officiating.
Born on June 4, 1948, Adell's life was marked by profound love and selflessness. She made family her top priority, creating a warm and loving home as a dedicated homemaker. Despite facing unimaginable tragedies with the loss of her husband and two children, Adell found solace in the embrace of her youngest son whom she endearingly referred to as her "Baby" and with whom she had been living since 2002.
Adell's charming personality endeared her to all who knew her. She was known for her sweetness and honesty - always speaking her truth with a directness that was both refreshing and genuine. A devoted Baptist who cherished her faith in Jesus Christ, Adell lived out her beliefs through acts of service and care for those around her.
In her leisure time, Adell found joy in simple pleasures like fishing trips and camping adventures with her family. Her culinary skills were unmatched, delighting loved ones with delicious meals cooked with love. An avid fan of classic TV shows like Andy Griffith, The Golden Girls, and Sanford & Son, Adell found comfort and joy in these shared moments.
Adell is reunited in peace with her husband, William Monroe Black; daughter, Barbara Tapley; son, Julian Black; parents, Ora Aurelia Marshall Lawrence and Junius Francis Lawrence; and sisters, Frances Honeycutt and Brenda Lawrence. She leaves behind a legacy of love survived by her children, Scott Black (Wendi), Sandra Pederson (Randall), Dorris Realy (Vic Hall), and Bill Black (Candy); sisters, Sybil Turner and Judy Tuten; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
