Donavon "Donny" Lee Stewart

Donavon “Donny” Lee Stewart, 34, left his earthly body Friday, April 7, 2023 at Piedmont Augusta. Services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2023 with the Reverends David Kitchens, Robin Cunningham-Ivey, and Tammy Turner officiating. The family will receive friends after the services.

The only child of Lora Lee Kitchens Stewart and Jackie Lee Stewart, Donny grew up in Gibson and was a 2006 graduate of Glascock County Consolidated School. He then obtained his Master Cosmetology Degree from Oconee Fall Line Technical College, formerly Sandersville Technical College, in 2009.  He joined Perfect Touch stylists in Wrens in April, 2011 where his stylistic talents grew his clientele.  Donny was multi-talented and was very artistic.  One of his passions was photography. Becoming well-known for this talent, he opened Donny Stewart Photography in 2018 and Studio on Mane in July, 2021.  Not only did he enjoy the photography, but he thrived on his interaction with people. His other passion was cooking. Watching and learning from his “Nanny” Essie, Donny loved being in the kitchen preparing meals for his family and friends. He loved cooking so much that he had aspirations of becoming a chef. He also loved to travel, especially to the mountains and the beach. Always fun-loving and the life of the party, Donny put a smile on everyone’s face.  People were naturally drawn to his effervescent personality.  He had a great personality with a great sense of humor.  But it has been said that he had NO filter—whatever he thought, he put it out there to be heard. Donny was very honest and accepted everyone for who they were without any judgement—he treated others like he wanted to be treated. Having a deep affection for his friends and family, he loved greatly and, in return, was greatly loved.  The void left by his passing cannot be filled but his love and memories will live on in our hearts—his spirit will be forever remembered.

Donny is preceded in death by his grandparents, William Jackie Stewart, Larry Dean Kitchens, Essie Lee Whitehead Kitchens and Chester Kitchens.  Others left to cherish his memories include his grandmother, Joanne “Granny Jo” Kitchens; uncles, Larry Stewart (Linda), Dwayne Stewart, Dean Kitchens (Lori), Kenneth Kitchens and Chester Kitchens Jr.; cousins, other extended family and a multitude of friends.
