David Eugene Barrow
Wrens, GA – David Eugene “Gene” Barrow, 64, son of the late Vivian Erlene Gay Barrow and the late John Turner Barrow, entered into rest Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, March 24, 2013 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Chance officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.
Gene was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and worked as a farmer and on the dairy—he loved driving the tractor and being outdoors. Even though his nickname was "Cowboy", he loved tractors--every year at Christmas he looked forward finding a tractor left for him underneath the tree. The only television show he enjoyed was Andy Griffin. Gene was a private person—a bit of a loner—but he always lent a helping hand for those in need.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Ann Vickery. Survivors include his two brothers, John Carter Barrow (Ollie) of Hephzibah and Larry Lamar Barrow; a brother-in-law, Floyd Vickery Jr. of Waynesboro; two nephews, John Barrow III and Floyd Vickery III; one niece, Kim Ann Vickery; several great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.
