Christopher Edward Ridings

Augusta, GA –            Christopher Edward Ridings, 54, entered into eternal rest early Tuesday morning, May 24, 2022 at August University Medical Center. Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, May 27, 2022 with Rev. Ed Chance officiating.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

Born to the late Sarah Brenda Hughes Whitaker and the late Harold Edward Ridings, Chris grew up in the Wrens area, attending Wrens Elementary and Wrens High School.  After his mother passed, he moved to Augusta, then to Athens before moving back to Augusta. Chris worked as a cook in the fast-food industry before becoming disabled.   He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior serving Him at Wrens Baptist Church, Wrens Church of God and, more recently, at Cornerstone in Athens. Chris loved watching sports on TV, swimming, watching movies, playing board games and partaking of a good meal.  He has been described as being easy going, being very personable, being a “one-of-a-kind character”, and having the best laugh which was more like a giggle.  Chris was a people-person and enjoyed having great conversations with anyone he met. His favorite thing to do was visiting his Aunt Carol with whom he had a special bond, and her family.  Having endured many hardships, both emotionally and physically, Chris kept a positive attitude and lifted the spirits of those around him.  Rest in peace, Chris….

Those left to cherish his memories include his favorite aunt, Carol Bazemore (Glen); special friend, Angie Brown; cousins, and other extended family.
