Charles Kenneth Williams

Keysville, GA  – Charles Kenneth “Kenny” Williams, 86, loving husband of 66 years to the late Virginia Hayes Williams, entered into rest Monday, March 24, 2014 at Keysville Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, March 27, 2014 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Stapleton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

One of thirteen children born to the late Queen Parrish Williams and the late Sam Williams, Kenny was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County where he was a logger and dairy farmer. Never having done any construction, he built his own home where he lived for 52 years.  He worked hard all of his life, cutting grass in his later years in order to pay his bills. His favorite pastime was being a “shade-tree” mechanic, tinkering on motors of any kind—cars, lawn mowers, etc.; if it was torn up, he could fix it! When his son was 10 years old, Charles put a motor on his bicycle—Bubba’s first motorcycle! He loved his “sweets”, often eating them with his meals. Kenny was a strong, independent, kind and generous man as well as a loving, devoted husband, father, son and brother. He loved his family above all else and was most content in their presence.

Kenny was also preceded in death by nine siblings, Jessie Williams, Clifford Williams, Buford Williams, Margaret Williams, Sara Duggan, Herbert Williams, Martha Williams and Infant twin brothers. Survivors include his children, Connie M. Moss (Willie), Charles K. “Bubba” Williams, Jr. (Lisa), Cherry Smith and Sue Utley (Buddy); three siblings, Cecil Williams (Betty), Joe Williams and Mary W. Hall; fourteen grandchildren, Dawn Whitaker (Carl), Debra Utley (Rodney), John Cumbee (Tiffany), Jackie Moss, Ricky Williams (Melissa), Wesley Williams, Keith Williams (India), Daniel Boyd (Tami), Rachel Prickett, Jennifer Perkins (Jerry), Jessica Landrum (Douglas), Victor Utley (Tara), Melissa Key (Goody) and Joseph Utley; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Pallbearers will be Michael Glabas, Chris Newsome, Victor Utley, Keith Williams, Ricky Williams and Wesley Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens GA  30833.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM Wednesday evening, March 26, 2014.

Not "How Did He Die", But "How Did He Live"

Not "How did he die?", but "How did he live?"
Not "What did he gain?", but "What did he give?"
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not "What was his church?", nor "What was his creed?"
But "Had he befriended those really in need?"
"Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?"
Not "What did the sketch in the newspaper say?"
But "How many were sorry when he passed away?"
