Carolyn Holton
Harlem, GA – Carolyn Holton, 75, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at her residence. Celebration of life services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 P.M. Monday evening, April 4, 2022 with Rev. Chad Watkins officiating. Family and friends are welcomed to remain after the service to visit with the family.
One of thirteen born to the late Mattie Elizabeth Arrington Holton and the late Jewel Euvee Holton in Davisboro, GA, Carolyn was a 1964 graduate from Wrens High School after which she attended MCG pursuing a nursing career. Two months before graduating, she was involved in a major automobile accident which required a lengthy recovery. She finally completed her nursing degree in 1975, working at local hospitals before joining the staff at Dr. Burgamy’s OB/GYN practice. She later worked locally with the Lewis family in Wrens. In her younger years, Carolyn loved to dance. Her desire to dance again was cathartic in her recovery from the accident. She loved music, especially country and southern rock, as well as watching Westerns. Being easy-going and having a great sense of humor, Carolyn greeted people with her big, beautiful smile and tried to do whatever she could to make people laugh and enjoy themselves. She had an absolute love for each of her family members and was happiest in their presence. The void left by her passing can never be filled, but the memories will sustain those left behind until their reunion in Heaven.
Carolyn is also preceded in death by her son, Brian Scott Poole; and seven siblings, Dorothy Josey, James Holton, Marvin Holton, Valeria Holton, Barbara Holton, Edward Holton and Henry Holton. Those left to cherish her memories include her two surviving children, Shari Lynn Newsome (Chico) and John Alan Poole (Judy); four grandchildren, Paige Gray (Hunter), Matthew Poole (Katelynn), Brian Poole, and Rachel Poole; two great grandchildren, Ansley Gray and Matthew Poole Jr.; five siblings, Gwen Swint (Louis), Joyce May (Luke), Alvin Holton, Richard Holton and Wayne Holton; a “bestest” friend since 5th grade, Carol Brannon; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her care-giver and friend, Rosemary Gilman, for her love and compassion.
