Carol Elizabeth Jones Gough
Dearing, GA – Carol Elizabeth Jones, Gough, 67, loving wife of 20 years to the late Dennis Wayne Gough, entered into rest Tuesday night, January 21, 2014 at Doctor’s Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM, Saturday, January 25, 2014 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grovetown.
One of five children born to the late Elizabeth Miller Jones and the late Thomas Lewis Jones, Carol was born in Augusta and graduated from Butler High School. She has always lived in the CSRA—Augusta, Louisville, Thomson, Grovetown and Dearing—and was a member of Dearing Baptist Church. Carol was a tax preparer, retiring from H&R Block with over 25 years of service and then working independently for another five years. She loved camping and being outdoors—she even lived at Clark Hill during the summer months. She also enjoyed racing, especially going to Gordon Park to cheer on her husband’s race team. She could also be found crocheting, tending to her plants and growing tomatoes—and she loved butterflies and butterscotch. A great cook, she loved having her family over for Sunday dinner. Carol had a loving, generous spirit and would put other’s needs before her own. Lovingly known as “Nanny”, Carol cherished every memory of her family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family who she loved unconditionally.
Carol is also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Pate Johnson. Survivors include her daughters, Dana McCormick (Paul) of Tuscon, Arizona and Joy Hill (Tim) of Nashville, Tennessee; four brothers, Bruce Jones (Lynda), Jerry Jones, Mitch Barnhill and Tommy Jones; ten grandchildren, Brian Lavallee, Aaron Lavallee, Cory Davis, Brandon Hill, Cody Hill, Kristen Espirtu, Patrick Jones, Shelby Gough, Kaylee Gough and Aleya McCormick; eight great grandchildren, Logan Hill, Zander Espirtu, Ollie Espirtu, Yasmine Lavallee, Logan Lavallee, Kaleb Lavallee, Adrianna Lavallee and Zoe Lavallee; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Pallbearers will be L.B. Espirtu, Brandon Hill, Cody Hill, Tim Hill, Chuck Jones and Paul McCormick.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 12:30-2:30PM prior to the funeral services.

Butterfly
As you danced in the light with joy, love lifted you.
As you brushed against this world so gently, you lifted us.
*********
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam and for a brief moment it's
glory and beauty belong to our world, but then it flies again and though
we wished it could have stayed....we feel lucky to have seen it.
*********
What the caterpillar perceives as the end,
To the butterfly is just the beginning.

Legacy of Love
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
