Massey Gaston “Bo” Roberson, Jr.

Wrens, GA  – Massey Gaston “Bo” Roberson, Jr., 87, loving husband of 64 years to Sybil Jean Thompson Roberson, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday night, January 1, 2014 from his residence while surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Friday, January 3, 2014 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Stan Littleton officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

Bo was one of two children born to the late Hazel Eloise Odum Roberson and the late Massey Gaston Roberson Sr in Odum, Wayne County, GA.  After graduating from Odum High School, he proudly served our country in the Army during World War II.  Upon returning home, he attended and graduated from Georgia Southern where he met and married the love of his life. He then taught school and was principal of a “country school” in Pulaski County.  After moving to Wrens, he became a Civil Engineer for the US Department of Defense at Fort Gordon.  Bo was an active member of Wrens United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent.  He was a very active person—working in the yard and golfing—and was a great “supervisor” for any job or task.  Bo’s greatest enjoyment was camping—he took his family all over the US and to all the space launches.  He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he travelled.  Bo loved his family, especially his grandchildren who provided him great joy.  Not only a devoted family man and a dependable friend, he was a faithful servant to his Lord and enjoyed his 87th birthday in His presence.

Bo is also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lou Cunningham. Other survivors include his two children, Rosemary R. Wren (William) and Philip J. Roberson (Lisa); four grandchildren, Will Wren (Ashley), Rob Wren (Dana), Drew Wren (Emily) and Frank Roberson; two great grandchildren, Harrison Bo Wren and Olivia Bay Wren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.  Pallbearers will be Bruce Dowdy, Charles Milburn, Johnny Rabun, Burnie Thompson, Jerry Weeks and Miller Weeks.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home on Friday, January 3, 2014 prior to the funeral services from 11:00AM – 12:45PM.

The family respectfully requests memorial contributions to be made to Wrens United Methodist Church, 202 Russell St, Wrens GA 30833.
