Billy Watts

Hephzibah, GA  – Billy Watts, 80, loving husband to Amanda Taylor Watts, entered into rest Friday  afternoon, December 20, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, December 23, 2013 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

One of seven children born to the late Mary Elizabeth “Sook” Skinner Watts and the late James Watts, Billy always lived in the CSRA—Burke, Jefferson and Richmond Counties. He was proud patriot and served our country in the Army.  He worked hard as a tile setter in the construction industry and was most content being outside working in his garden or “running the chainsaw”.  An avid fisherman, Billy could catch fish out of a mud hole! He loved his Lord and was a member of Berean Baptist Church. Billy was a caring person who was always available to lend a helping hand to others in need.  He loved his pets—cats and dogs—but had a special love for his dog, Ham Bone.  A loving, devoted husband and father, his greatest joy was spending time with his family—he loved each and every one unconditionally.  Even though death has left us a heartache that no one can heal, love has left us memories no one can steal.

Billy is also preceded in death by three wives, Agnes Hayes Watts, Donna Hillis Watts and Trudy Taylor; his two sons, Toby Watts and Chad Watts; two brothers, Bob Watts and Buddy Watts; two grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.  Other survivors include his children, Tony Watts (Penny), Randall Hillis (Tonya), Greg Watts (Lisa), Jerry Watts (Dale), Steve Watts (Christina), Billie Jo Tompkins (Troy), Lisa Watts, Brenda Watts, Glenn Burroughs (Danielle), and Don Watts (Norma Jean); four siblings, Mary Ruth Watts, Dorothy Williams, Marjorie Tudor and Wilma Smith (Chuck); 25 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends.  Pallbearers will be Steve Watts, Glenn Burroughs, Sonny Burroughs, Jason Watts, Michael Prickett and Craig Prickett.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 6:00-8:00PM.

Fisherman’s Prayer

God grant that I may live to fish for another
Shining day.
But when my final cast is made I then most
Humbly pray,
When nestled in your landing net as I lay
Peacefully asleep,
You’ll smile at me and judge that I am
Good enough to keep.
