Tillman Howell Sr., entered into rest Wednesday evening, June 6, 2012 at Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab Center in Cordele GA. A private service was held at 4:00PM, Sunday, June 10, 2012 at James Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Keenan officiating. Interment followed at Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
Hayden was one of six children and grew up in Jefferson County. He was a car mechanic but tinkered on all small engines—he was happiest when his hands were greasy. At a young age, the traveling bug hit him and wanderlust set in. He traveled the US over, several times, where he met many lifetime friends—he was truly a “rambling man”. Hayden never met a stranger and had an infectious personality. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Hayden was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Alma Oliphant and Betty Collins. Survivors include his children, Julie Block (Scott) of Flanagan IL, Bill Howell of Daytona Beach FL, and Mark Howell of Swainsboro GA; three siblings, Henry T. Howell Jr. (Jackie) of Lilly GA, Carol McDonald (Barry) o fNorth Augusta SC, and Rea H. Davis (Wayne); seven grandchildren; one maternal aunt, Eloise Brooks of Matthews; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
