Betty Jean “Jeannie” Long
Blythe, GA – Betty Jean “Jeannie” Long, 62, loving wife of 46 years to David Allen Long, unexpectedly died Sunday evening, March 31, 2019 at Ashley River Tower Hospital in Charleston SC. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2019 with the Reverend Shane Padgett officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery.
One of eight children born to the late Mary Ann Arrington Bartlett and the late Thomas B. “T.B.” Bartlett, Jeannie grew up in the Matthews-Keysville-Blythe area. When she was 16, the family moved to Palatka FL where she me the joy of her life, married and started their family. She and her family moved back to Georgia in 1983. Jeannie loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed travelling, especially to FL to visit friends and relatives, and to TN—she loved the mountains at Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. She did enjoy cross-stitching in her quiet time. Jeannie had an absolute, unconditional love for her family—they were her first priority—and tried to make their home a safe, comfortable haven. Having an outgoing personality, she loved talking to and meeting people—her fun-loving spirit was contagious. Being kind and considerate, she went out of her way to help others in need. The peacemaker in her family, Jeannie’s greatest desire was that everyone be happy and get along. Her loving, caring spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jeannie is also preceded in death by her two children, Brandi LaShay Long and Anita Diane Long; and five siblings, Ann Lee, Terry Bartlett, James Bartlett, Denny Bartlett and Mike Bartlett. Other survivors include her children, David A. Long Jr. (Christina) and Sarah Long McDaniel (Corey); a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Pallbearers will be Jamie Ames, Jesse Bartlett, Jimi Blackburn, Brandon Carroll, James Chriswell and Dale Long.
Because of the sudden, unexpected nature of their loss, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, April 5, 2019.
