Bettie Lou Williams
Gibson, GA – Bettie Lou Williams, 67 entered into her eternal rest Thursday afternoon, September 8, 2016 at C & R Personal Care Home in Lincolnton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery located on Hwy 57 outside of Kite.
Bettie was one of ten children born to the late Adria Stapleton Williams and the late Linton K. Williams. A native of Wrightsville, Bettie graduated from Wadley High School and earned a degree at Swainsboro Technical School. After her father passed, she and her mother moved to Gibson to be near her sister. After her mother died, she lived with her sister until moving to Lincolnton where she had lived for the past eighteen years. Bettie was very artistic—a talented painter, song writer and singer. She could often be found drinking her “Southern” iced tea and coffee, and watching her favorite TV shows. Baptist by faith, Bettie loved her Lord and Savior. She was constantly in the Word, growing closer to Jesus and deepening her relationship with Him. Even though she endured much tribulation and troubles, she maintained a sweet, humble spirit and had a continued thankfulness for her blessings. Bettie is now content and at peace in her Heavenly home.
Bettie is also preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Lou Williams. Survivors include her three brothers, Alton Williams of Albany, Gene Williams (Jessie) of Wadley, Jack Williams (Gwen) of Wrens; five sisters, Edna L. Price (Robert) of Milledgeville, LaVerne Bridges (Larry) of Davisboro, Karolyn Usry (Terry) of Gibson, Alicia Usry David) of Gibson, and Debbie Adams (Sam) of North Augusta SC; a special cousin, R. E. Fortner of Wadley; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Herndon, J.J. Herndon, Steve Reagan, Anthony Usry, Eric Williams, and Gene Williams.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home one hour prior to funeral services—from 1:00-2:00 P.M., Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016.
