Barbara Jean Black Tapley
Kite, GA – Barbara Jean Black Tapley, 51, loving wife of 22 years to William “Bryan” Tapley, entered into her eternal rest Thursday evening, January 7, 2021 at University Summerville in Augusta. Graveside services will be held in the Oaky Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, January 13, 2021 with Reverend Tom Akins officiating.
Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.
Born to Elizabeth Lawrence Black and the late William Monroe Black, Barbara grew up in Wadley. She and Bryan grew up together as friends. After being apart for several years, they reunited as friends, fell in love and married in 1998. They started life together living in Kite, moved to Wadley and then moved back to Kite. Barbara’s first priority was her family. As a homemaker, she tried to make their home a comfortable, loving safe haven. Being a great cook, she loved feeding her family and having family get-togethers. She especially loved Thanksgiving and Christmas because of the time spent with her family. In later years, Barbara worked in home health as a personal care giver. Having a servant’s heart, she loved people, always put others needs before her own, and gave of her time and talent to help others in any way she could. After accepting the free gift of salvation, she submitted herself to Jesus Christ, serving her Lord and Savior as a member of Oaky Grove Baptist Church where she fell in love with her church family. Barbara had an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor—just being around her made you feel better. She was especially “goofy” with kids—children were drawn to her playful spirit. Barbara enjoyed her plain, simple life style. Her family was her life, loving them unconditionally. Each one of her beloved grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Her loving, generous spirit will be greatly missed but, having a great impact on those around her, she will forever be in the hearts of her family and friends.
Barbara was also preceded in death by her brother, Julian Black. Others left to cherish her memories include her children, David Black (Kendra), Stephanie Hall, Gene Hall, Magan Watts and Cody Tapley (Carli Pope); sixteen grandchildren, Chaz Black, Holly Black, Kelbie Dismuke, Bentlee Youmans, Allie Black, Hannah Black, McKenzie Black, Landon Hall, Payton Hall, Morgan Williford, James Jackson, Judah Hall, Brayden Hall, Maddison Hall, Don Lee Watts and Holli Tapley; four siblings, Scott Black, Bill Black (Candy), Sandra Pederson (Randall) and Dorris Realy; nephews, nieces, in-laws, extended family, friends and church family.
Because of Barbara’s untimely passing, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens, GA 30833.
