Audrey Louise Walden Norton
Wrens, GA – Audrey Louise Walden Norton, 94, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Tuesday evening, March 23, 2021 at Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center. Private graveside services to celebrate her life will be held in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, March 26, 2021 with Rev. Curtis Thigpen officiating.
Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.
Born in Glascock County to the late Mary Will Smith Walden and the late Oliver Pilcher Walden, Audrey graduated from Glascock County High School, after which she married, moved to Wrens and started her family. Being very industrious and a hard-worker, she worked at Stapleton Garment Company, Anchor Company, and retired as a ward secretary from Jefferson Hospital. She was always busy with her total focus being to provide for and take care of her family. Being a supportive and loving mother, her love for her children and grandchildren was unconditional and absolute. A born-again Christian, she attended Wrens Bible Chapel and loved to read her Bible every day. Her strong faith in God brought her through the many trials in her life and now she is reaping her rewards in Heaven, her eternal home.
Audrey was also preceded in death by two children, David Samuel Norton Jr. and Mary Frances Norton Walden; granddaughter, Rachel Whittington; and brothers, Pilcher Walden and Melton Walden. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Cherlyn N. Templeton, Donna N. Pacheco, Jackie N. James, Lee N. Long; eleven grandchildren, Lewis Templeton, Stefanie Irby, Elizabeth Snider, Kim Smith (Clint), Jonathan Miller (Melissa), Alison Miller, Tiffany Johnson (Hank), Todd James (Rebecca), Timothy Norton, Mitchell Whittington and Jessica Prickett (Matt); twenty-five great grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Hobbs; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
