Annie Kate Holton Yonce, 81, passed away peacefully at her residence Wednesday evening, February 26, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family.
A native of Davisboro, Annie grew up on a farm and attended school in Washington County. She later moved to Augusta to begin her career at Murray Biscuit, later known as Kellogg. She dedicated an impressive 42 years of service to the company before retiring. Her commitment to her work and her family stood as a testament to her character and dedication throughout her life.
In 1962, Annie married the love of her life and they made their home in North Augusta, South Carolina. Together, they grew their family, instilling values of love and honor in their children. In 2011, following retirement, they moved to Wrens, where they cherished the peaceful country life.
Annie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She accepted Jesus as a young girl and served Him faithfully throughout her life at Davisboro Baptist Church, Clearwater Baptist Church, and finally, Ways Baptist Church. Her humble and simple life was marked by a servant's heart. She always put others before herself, never met a stranger and had a great love for everyone she encountered.
Being an avid gardener, Annie had a green thumb that flourished as she nurtured her vegetable garden and vibrant flowers. This was reminiscent of her younger years on the farm, and found joy in watching things grow. She spent many tranquil hours fishing in the pond on their property which was another source of solace and contentment.
Annie is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Newton Yonce; their children, Tony Yonce (Debbie) and Ann Tanner; four grandchildren; and her brother, Dewey Holton Jr. (Peggy) of Davisboro. She is also remembered fondly by extended family, her beloved church family, and many friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Yarbrough Holton and Henry Dewey Holton Sr., and her sister, Shelby Jean Jackson.
A visitation will be held in her honor on March 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at James Funeral Home. A graveside service with Rev. Wayne Turpin officiating will follow at Ways Baptist Church at 3:00 PM.
The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to her beloved church—Ways Baptist Church, c/o Anita McNair, PO Box 374, Wrens GA 30833.
Annie's life serves as an inspirational example of love, faith, and devotion, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
