Miss Alma Beasley

Wrens, GA  – Miss Alma Beasley, 93, loving daughter of the late Sallie Thompson Beasley and the late Edgar J. Beasley, entered into rest Wednesday afternoon, March 12, 2014 at Jefferson Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 12:30PM Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. Scott McKinney and Rev. David Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

Miss Alma was a lifelong resident of Wrens.  Being a staunch Baptist, she loved her church family and served her Lord at Wrens Baptist Church.  She was a care giver for the elderly for over 40 years and was very proud, at the age of 54, to be have attended and graduated from the 1974 class of The Lincoln School for Nursing Attendants.  An accomplished seamstress, she made most of her own clothes.  If she bought or if someone gave her clothes, she liked to add something of her own to embellish it with a little bit of “Alma flavor”.  Miss Alma loved her kitty cats, flowers and southern gospel music.  Most of all, she had a love and concern for people—she never met a stranger and knew all the happenings in her community.  Being very witty and having a great sense of humor, Miss Alma enjoyed life and having a good time just laughing and talking.  She was described as being "one of a kind" and "a character" with loads of personality. Miss Alma had a very generous spirit, often giving her things to others who needed them more.  She never wanted her things thrown away since there might be someone who could make use of them. This feisty, independent woman of God will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is also preceded in death by four siblings, Woodrow Beasley, Lovie B. Evans, Bernice B. Phillips and Eugene Beasley. Survivors include two nieces, Betty Jean Beasley Smith (Miss Alma’s pride and joy) of Marietta and Nellie Phillips Reeves; a nephew, Jim Beasley (Sylvia) of Augusta; and several great nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will John Bryan, Allen Rowland, Billy Rowland and Sam Rowland.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 11:00AM-12:30PM Saturday, March 15, 2014 prior to the funeral service.

To Those Whom I Love

When I am gone, release me and let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that I have had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for a while that we must part
So cherish the memories in your heart.

I will not be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can not see or touch me, I will be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.

Then, when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home”.
