The only son and third child born to the late Eva Cadle Halford Daniels and the late Alford Ferris Halford, Albert, lovingly known as Buckey, was a life-long resident of Blythe and attended Blythe Baptist Church. After graduating from Hephzibah High School in 1970, he worked at the chalk mine. In 1971, he married his best friend and the love of his life. At the age of 25, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, dedicating his life to serving the Lord. He heard God’s call for him to preach; so, he enrolled in Baptist Bible College in Springfield MO, graduating in 1982 with his seminary degree. Upon returning home, he taught school at Temple Baptist in Augusta. He always knew God wanted him to start a church. Buckey exercised his faith and trust in God and started Faith Baptist Church in June, 1985 in his father’s pool hall in Blythe. The church grew and prospered buying land and building the church in its current location in 1987 where Buckey has been the pastor until his health decline. Being a minister was a testament to Buckey’s love and devotion to God and to his people. In his alone time, he loved to fish, enjoying God’s peace and solitude. He also like to take his bride to the mountains and beach, and celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Grand Ole Opry. Buckey did enjoy listening to gospel music and the “old” county sounds—he was not particularly fond of today’s country music. He had a dry wit and great sense of humor. Buckey has been described as being a “good, family man”, “kind”, “giving”, and “generous”. He loved his family absolutely and unconditionally—his grandchildren filled his heart with joy. We know that Buckey is experiencing life everlasting in Glory at the throne of Christ. We grieve and the void left by his passing cannot be filled but his memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Buckey is also preceded in death by his grandson, Cooper Halford. Other survivors include his two sons, Albert “Lil Buckey” Halford Jr. (Chelsie) and Lance W. Halford (Sonya); four grandchildren, Luke Halford, Caleb Halford, Emmalee Halford and Josiah “Buster” Halford; three sisters, Sandra Gleason, Kay Keys (Mike) and Emily Robinson (Larry); nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Barnes, Glenn Christian, Cecil Elliott, Mike Rhodes, Larry Robinson and Mikel Skinner.
The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Faith Baptist Church, PO Box 162, Blythe GA 30805.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00—8:00 P.M. Monday evening, Augusta 16, 2021.
