A D Wheeler
Matthews, GA – A D Wheeler, 81, loving husband to the late Myra Gay Wheeler, entered into rest Thursday morning, September 12, 2013 at Gibson Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 3:00PM with Rev. Jim Emery officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
One of eleven children born to the late Cloris Estene McGahee Wheeler and the late Joe Edgar Wheeler, A D was a lifelong resident of Matthews. He retired as a maintenance mechanic with Babcock Wilcox in Hephzibah. He was also a farmer and worked with cows. He enjoyed going fishing, especially with his lovely “Bill”; traveling to the mountains, especially in the fall; sitting on the porch and just riding around the countryside. AD had a unique sense of humor, never met a stranger and was very outspoken—“right was right and wrong is wrong”. His greatest joy was his family and being “Pawpaws” to his grands and great-grands.
A D was also preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Wheeler, J.E. Wheeler, Lorene Temples, Dorothy W. Thompson, Edward Luckey and Wayne Wheeler. Those left to mourn his passing are his two children, Darlene W. Arrington and Aubrey Wheeler (Sue); four siblings, Betty Jean W. Murphy, Billy W. Wheeler (Kathleen), Harris Wheeler (Beulah) and Vera E. Walden; seven grandchildren, Victor Arrington (Christa), James Arrington (Taylor), Brad Arrington (Ashlee), J. D. Wheeler (Ashley), Jake Kight (Alicia), Dylan Wheeler (Casey) and Adam Wheeler; nine great grandchildren, Emily Arrington, Autumn Arrington, Cayden Arrington, Madelyn Arrington, Sumer Arrington, Camlyn Arrington, Skye Wheeler, Wyatt Wheeler and Baby Girl Wheeler; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Arrington, James Arrington, Victor Arrington, Jake Kight, Adam Wheeler, Dennis Wheeler, J. D. Wheeler and Tony Wheeler.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens, GA 30833
